Composition principles: Layers

TouchedContinuing with the base principle that saw this blog launched, it is time for the second article on composition principles. This time, the subject is Layers.

Once again, all samples are taken from submissions by members of the Flickr group Learn Composition by Example.

My thanks to all those who participated, making it such a difficult choice to reduce the field to 18 plus one.

  1. “A third dimension in a flat medium” is an excellent way to describe these layers used for educational purposes in your second subject on compositional tools. I can well imagine it was a most difficult task. However you have done it masterfully. Somewhere to look back; to refresh the mind when ideas become cloudy. Rick I am sure your time spent is greatly appreciated by all.
